About the Organization
London Cycle Link (LCL) is a member-supported charitable organization dedicated to helping Londoners ride more. Through education, advocacy and community-building efforts, we envision a healthy, vibrant London, Ontario, Canada that chooses cycling as a mode of transportation. We lead campaigns, manage the Ride to Thrive cycling education program, operate Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op, and lead and partake in community events to achieve our goals.
London Cycle Link organizes, collaborates on and participates in a variety of events throughout the year to engage its volunteers, its membership and the public at large. These events promote our mission, connect us to like-minded businesses and organizations, provide resources and services, and celebrate community milestones and landmarks. They include family-friendly group rides, pop-up bike repair stations, bike valets, cultural and environmental festivals, educational workshops, and advocacy demonstrations that bring people together to experience the importance and joy of biking and build momentum for a city that rides more.
About the Role
The Events Coordinator will plan, organize, and lead the execution of London Cycle Link’s community events and initiatives, working closely with our (currently operational) board, staff, volunteers, and community partners to create engaging, inclusive, and impactful experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate a pre-established calendar of community cycling events, including logistics, scheduling, budgeting, and promotion
Work closely with board, staff, volunteers, vendors, fellow charities and nonprofits, and community stakeholders to ensure smooth event operations
Liaison with community groups, City of London staff, and local businesses to build partnerships and promote the events
Identify, keep inventory of, and handle necessary event materials and equipment, including tents, signage, promotional literature, for-sale merchandise, bike valet equipment and bike repair kits
Support the development and execution of marketing and communication strategies to grow event attendance and engagement
Promote events through social media, internal and third party newsletters, website updates, and community outreach
Collect and analyze event feedback and data to improve future programming
Represent London Cycle Link at community meetings, festivals, and outreach activities
Qualifications
Friendly, enthusiastic, and an excellent communicator
Passionate about community-building and the role cycling plays in creating healthier, more connected cities
Experienced at planning and coordinating events, and comfortable juggling multiple logistics
Skilled at working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident with digital programs, websites and apps (Google Workspace, Little Green Light, Canva, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
In possession of a valid driver’s license and with access to a personal vehicle OR able to operate an electric bicycle with cargo capacity on city streets (provided by LCL or partner business)
Bonus Points
Experience with bike shops, either as a volunteer or staff member
Experience working for or volunteering with a non-profit or charitable organization
A strong understanding of and commitment to anti-oppressive values and practices
Digital communication skills including social media, web marketplaces, and videography
Background in communications, marketing, or community outreach
Knowledge/interest in cycling culture and cycling advocacy
Familiarity with local cycling culture and infrastructure in London
Job Specifications
Compensation: $19.00/hour
Hours: 35 hours/week, with some evening and weekend work required
Hybrid work model:
Tuesdays at Innovation Works (201 King Street)
some in-person work at Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op (740 Dundas Street, Unit 4) and on event days (locations throughout London)
some remote work
8-week contract with anticipated start date of June 9, 2025
An eligible candidate must be:
aged 15-30
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
holder of a valid social insurance number at the start of employment
Reports to: Vice-Chair at Board of Directors
