LCL celebrates cycling spike, high engagement at AGM

Our Annual General Meeting, held virtually on the evening of January 13th, was everything we might want in an online event: well-attended, and yet intimate and engaging; filled with important moments both of marking achievements and of creating new ones; entertaining, fun and informative. The AGM even offered chances to shape the future of the organization in meaningful ways – all for the affordable price of an LCL membership!

Musical allies Westminster Park reminded us about being safe on the roads with their song “I just want to get home tonight.” After a First Nations land acknowledgement, Executive Director Daniel Hall and Board Chair Luis Patricio moved through a lively agenda reflecting on our development over the past year and looking forward to a vibrant future in 2021. We also enjoyed some door prize giveaways, fun bike trivia, and a new What Moves You? video featuring Carla Nelson-Boyce.

It’s not too often that passing bylaws or filling Board positions is a pivotal moment in an AGM, but in our case, they were! One new bylaw was passed allowing us to have a slightly larger Board, reflecting the impressive quantity and quality of Board member candidates, as well as our growth and momentum. We also held open elections for these positions – keep an eye on future communications for more details about our newest Board members!

With any luck, we will be back to in-person AGMs from now on, but the current pandemic continues to show us that we are building a resilient and adaptable network of local people committed to helping LCL fulfill its mission. Thank you for your membership!
