Touring Workshop - Lisa Ellington & Ed Clark

Lisa Ellington and Ed Clark have been cycle touring for several years, and will share information, resources and experiences on the various types of touring, including guided, self-guided or self-supported.

There are many touring opportunities available in our area from single-day to multi-day excursions, with a variety of distances. There is lots to consider, but it really comes down to time, budget and preference. Some cyclists find pleasure in planning out all the details and touring on their own.  Others would rather not carry their own gear, and appreciate the comfort of knowing a guide is close by.

There is a tour out there for everyone. You just need to find the one that is right for you. It’s not a race to the destination, it’s about enjoying the journey!

Register on Eventbrite.

Bike Camping Workshop with Dickson Bou

In this free workshop, Dickson will share his experiences, demo gear, and talk packing, parks and roads.

Please sign up on Eventbrite to reserve your place: https://www.eventbrite.ca/o/squeaky-wheel-bicycle-coop-18193525392

Why take a car when you can bike? Plan a camping trip by bike this year! When you’re traveling self-supported by bicycle (with a healthy dose of freedom), mobility and spontaneity shape each day. Make your tour what you want. Touring can range from single- to multi-day trips, to years.

In their humble beginnings, Dickson and his crew did not have much touring gear. They rode older, used bikes they fixed-up with DIY panniers made from old backpacks, and strapped a $30 Canadian Tire tent directly onto one of their racks, but that didn’t stop them from having a great time.

Fast-forward a few years. After many trips taken and lessons learned, Dickson has gone from traveling on some of the best handmade touring bicycles in North America to building his own.

Dickson is an artist, part owner of N+1 Cycle, and torch extraordinaire of the Wake Robin (hand-built bicycles). Dickson has experience with self-supported touring in Canada, the UK and France.

Bike Cuba! - Discussion with Lee Orphan

Just the wind and the open road, powered by nothing but your own legs... and maybe some help from the local Arroz con pollo (chicken and rice) and espresso you just scarffed down at a local cafeteria!

Lee Orphan is an experienced cyclist and the leader for the Celia Sanchez Tour. Lee has ridden in Cuba, Canada and the United States.

Orphan discusses his experience leading supported cyclotour groups in Cuba with Bicycle Breeze. This is not the resort your auntie Karine goes to! This is the REAL Cuba! Lee leads groups through the most scenic and historic places in Cuba - where the revolution was born.

Lee's tours have been 100% with vehicle support, which provides an opportunity for cyclists of all abilities to experience Cuban culture and the revolution that changed the country.
Discussion will cover travelling with your bike by plane, touring options, and what to expect as you navigate the Cuban countryside.

You'll find the entrance to the bicycle co-op at the bottom the ramp on the east-side of the building, next to EasyHome.

This event is FREE! Please register on Eventbrite to reserve your place: https://www.eventbrite.ca/o/squeaky-wheel-bicycle-coop-18193525392
